Palestinians injured, detained amid heightened tensions in West Bank confrontations

RAMALLAH, June 06 (YPA) – A series of confrontations involving Israeli occupation forces, Zionist settlers, and Palestinian residents across the occupied West Bank on Saturday resulted in multiple injuries, detentions, and property damage, local sources and medical officials reported.

The incidents mark a continuation of heightened friction across the territory, characterized by military raids and localized clashes between settlers and Palestinian villagers.

Settler Attacks and Injuries in Nablus and Ramallah

In the northern West Bank province of Nablus, a group of Israeli settlers launched an attack on the town of Huwara, located south of Nablus city. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, attackers set fire to agricultural lands, triggering clashes that left nine Palestinians injured.

Meanwhile, in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, local residents reported that settlers entered the outskirts of the town of Deir Jarir, northeast of Ramallah. The incursion led to a state of alert and high tension among the local population, who anticipated potential property damage.

Assault and Brief Detention in Bethlehem

Further south, in the Bethlehem Governorate, an incident was reported involving two Palestinian women, identified as Suad Khalil Odeh Ghaneim and An’am Younis Mousa Ghaneim, from the town of al-Khader. Local sources stated the women were assaulted by Israeli settlers and soldiers while harvesting grape leaves in the “Qat’at al-Neis” area.

According to local accounts, the two women were beaten, bound, and blindfolded before being transported to an area near the village of al-Minya, southeast of Bethlehem, where they were subsequently released.

Residents of al-Khader state that the incident is part of an ongoing pattern of restrictions, which include limiting farmers’ access to their lands, the demolition of agricultural structures, and land requisitions intended for the expansion of nearby Israeli settlements.

Military Raids and Arrests in Tubas

In the northeastern West Bank governorate of Tubas, Israeli military forces conducted a raid into the town of Tammun. Local sources confirmed that Israeli forces searched a residential property and detained a young Palestinian man, identified as Saleh Khaled Zaid Bani Odeh.

The arrest comes amidst ongoing, near-daily military search-and-arrest operations conducted by the Israeli occupation army across various cities and towns in the West Bank.

The West Bank has witnessed a significant uptick in friction over recent months, characterized by coordinated military incursions and an increase in settler-related incidents. Palestinian officials and rights groups frequently accuse Israeli security forces of providing cover for settler actions, while the Israeli military maintains that its operations are aimed at maintaining security and apprehending individuals suspected of militant activity.
