“East Montana”.. A human slaughterhouse exposing Washington’s false human rights slogans

SANAA, June 01 (YPA) – While the United States positions itself as a moral arbiter over the nations of the world, issuing annual reports to classify peoples and governments based on “human rights” standards, facts emerging from within the US reveal a completely different reality.

This reality is embodied by immigrant detention centers that have transformed into hotbeds of systemic abuse and torture, placing Washington at the forefront of the world’s violators of basic human rights.

The latest chapter of this duplicity manifested in a major lawsuit filed by prominent human rights organizations—led by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Human Rights Watch (HRW)—against what has been described as the largest immigrant detention center in the United States, known as “Camp East Montana” in El Paso, Texas.

The Billion-Dollar Camp.. A Human Slaughterhouse

This sprawling camp was established at the Fort Bliss military base as part of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation strategy, at an astronomical cost exceeding $1.2 billion. Although the US Department of Homeland Security attempted to sugarcoat the situation by claiming the camp “meets federal standards,” the reality inside this “desert facility” reflects a brutality unbefitting of a nation claiming to be civilized.

Three individuals lost their lives inside the detention facility within just nine months of its opening, while more than 2,700 people are held in harsh environmental conditions and prisons lacking the barest human necessities.

According to a report published by Al-Jazeera Net, sourced from Reuters news agency, the camp has turned into a hotspot for the spread of dangerous diseases such as measles and tuberculosis due to deliberate medical neglect.

Physical Assault and Falsifying Facts

Details of the lawsuit, backed by an investigation conducted by the US Congress itself, reveal systemic sadism practiced by guards against detainees. Inspections recorded 49 flagrant violations, including 11 violations related to the “use of excessive force and restraints,” and 5 violations concerning “appalling medical care.”

Testimonies from the Hell of “East Montana”

According to the Al-Jazeera report, Erik Evan Rodriguez (a Venezuelan immigrant) confirmed that he was subjected to excessive physical violence by officials to forcibly compel him to sign his deportation papers.

Meanwhile, Jerald Akari Angi (from Cameroon) confirmed that he was severely beaten by guards without any justification. The violations did not stop at torture; they extended to cover-up attempts and the falsification of medical reports. In the case of the Cuban immigrant, “Geraldo Lunas Campos,” US immigration authorities initially attempted to claim his death was due to a “medical issue,” before changing their narrative to an “attempted suicide.”

However, the forensic report in El Paso shocked public opinion by ruling the death a “homicide” resulting from “asphyxia due to compression of the neck and torso” during a struggle with guards.

Arbitrary Use of Solitary Confinement

In addition to physical torture, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) practices systemic psychological torture through the arbitrary and excessive use of solitary confinement—a practice classified by international conventions as a form of torture that destroys human cognition.

America.. The Foremost Violator Behind the Preacher’s Mask

This lawsuit, the first of its kind against this military facility, arrives to reinforce what numbers and live testimonies prove: the United States is not a protector of human rights, but rather their foremost violator when it conflicts with its political agendas.

As Kyle Virgin, a staff attorney with the ACLU’s National Prison Project, stated: “We are filing this lawsuit to ensure that no other human being has to endure this inhumane treatment.” This statement encapsulates a bitter reality; while Washington exports slogans of freedom to the world, human beings end up suffocated under the feet of guards in its cells, or falling prey to diseases in the Texas desert.
