TEHRAN, May 27 (YPA) – Iran’s state-run television on Wednesday aired as an unofficial preliminary version of a proposed memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.
According to the report, any final agreement reached within 60 days would be adopted through a binding resolution issued by the UN Security Council.
The report noted that the current framework of the proposed understanding remains unofficial and non-final, stressing that Iran “will not take any step without concrete guarantees and verification.”
The unofficial draft reportedly includes several key provisions, most notably that the management and transit route of ships would remain under Iranian supervision in coordination with the Sultanate of Oman.
It also stated that the United States would commit to withdrawing military forces deployed around Iran, including troops recently sent to the region, while the future of forces stationed at permanent bases would remain subject to further negotiations.
According to the draft, Washington would additionally pledge to lift the naval blockade imposed on Iran. In return, Tehran would restore the level of commercial maritime traffic within one month to pre-escalation levels, with the arrangement excluding military vessels.
Meanwhile, Amir Ebrahim Rasouli reiterated Tehran’s red lines in the ongoing talks with Washington aimed at ending the conflict.
The developments come amid growing speculation about the possibility of reaching a framework agreement between Tehran and Washington, alongside continued mediation efforts by Pakistan and the entry of Qatar into the diplomatic process.
Reports indicate that negotiations remain stalled over two issues Iran considers fundamental: ending the war in Lebanon and establishing a mechanism for releasing frozen Iranian assets, while discussions related to the nuclear file would be postponed to later stages.
