President Al-Mashat says efforts ongoing to free all prisoners, restore Yemeni rights

SANAA, May 26 (YPA) – The head of the Supreme Political Council in Sana’a, Mahdi Al-Mashat, said efforts are ongoing to secure the release of all prisoners and to “restore the rights of the Yemeni people by all possible means.”

In a speech on occasion of Eid al-Adha, Al-Mashat said the occasion represents an important moment to reinforce Islamic principles, declare disassociation from “Satan and his allies,” and prepare for sacrifice in the path of God.

He added that “Eid al-Adha is an occasion for unity, strengthening bonds among believers, supporting the poor and needy, and giving thanks to Allah.”

Al-Mashat noted that the gathering of Muslim pilgrims at Mount Arafat, dressed “in unified uniform and chants in unison,” reflects the principles of Islamic unity, stressing that the Muslim world today needs greater solidarity, cohesion, and preparedness to confront “Israeli plans.”

Separately, Al-Mashat condemned the burning and desecration of the Holy Qur’an by American extremist Jake Lang, saying the crime reflects official US backing and hostile policies targeting Islam.

He called for mobilization to defend Islamic holy sites and rejected silence over such acts.

Al-Mashat also called for strengthening economic and cultural boycott measures against anyone who insults the Holy Qur’an and Islamic sanctities.

On the issue of prisoners, Al-Mashat welcomed the prisoner exchange agreement and said the issue of prisoners and missing persons remains a priority, stressing that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of all prisoners.

He said the confrontation with “enemies” has continued for more than a decade in evolving forms, pointing to attempts to undermine the internal front by stirring unrest and spreading false propaganda.

Al-Mashat stressed the importance of awareness in confronting the conspiracies, saying hostile parties are seeking to fuel controversy and distract attention from key issues.

President al-Mashat reaffirmed Yemen’s positions on regional issues, particularly Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran, and reiterated efforts to “restore the rights of the Yemeni people.

He called for unity, cohesion, and preparation of strength to confront the Zionist enemy’s “Greater Israel” project.
