US seeks mediation with Iran through new channels

TEHRAN, May 06 (YPA) – The United States is aware that any military action against Iran would carry serious consequences that could negatively affect Washington, despite strong rhetoric by President Donald Trump and members of his administration, the Iranian “Tasnim” News Agency reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

According to the source, some members of the US negotiating team have recently sought additional mediation channels with Iran through other countries, alongside existing contacts via Pakistan.

The source said this reflects an attempt by Washington to maintain a “show of strength,” despite internal recognition that military options would not produce decisive results and could further complicate the situation.

The source added that Tehran is prepared for all possible scenarios and does not take US mediation efforts seriously, saying that “people are no longer intimidated by threats.”

According to the source, Iran believes the only viable option for Washington is to accept a political settlement without escalation, while Tehran continues to adhere to its firm positions and conditions in any potential agreement.

The source also said Trump has recently reduced his focus on Iran’s missile program, suggesting it is no longer a priority at this stage.
