MAHRA, May 06 (YPA) – Yemen Airways Company run by the Saudi-backed government in Aden city, announced on Tuesday it was unable to operate flights to Al-Ghaydah Airport in Al-Mahra province, eastern Yemen, due to a shortage of aviation fuel.
The company said it had canceled its flight (IY430) to Al-Ghaydah scheduled for Thursday and rerouted it from Aden to Al-Rayyan and Socotra instead.
The disruption comes amid fuel crisis affecting multiple sectors, including aviation and electricity in southern Yemen.
According to local activists, Aden and other southern and eastern provinces have been plunged into darkness due to Saudi-backed government’s failure to provide fuel for power plants, amid a continuing economic crisis and the suspension of public sector salaries for a fourth consecutive month.\
