Pakistan targets 10 military sites in Afghanistan following drone attacks

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 24 (YPA) – Pakistan announced on Thursday that it carried out precise and calculated airstrikes targeting 10 locations inside Afghan territory, affirming they were military targets used to launch drone attacks against its border posts, in a sharp field escalation threatening bilateral mediation efforts.

Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar accused the Taliban administration of escalating the situation through “hostile operations” using drones instead of taking credible action against terrorist networks. He noted that the strikes came in retaliation for Taliban forces launching eight drones and shelling border posts, following an attempt by armed militants to infiltrate the border, which was foiled by the Pakistani military.

In response, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Afghan Taliban government, denied that its forces carried out any attacks against Pakistan.

The developments come two days after Pakistani fighter jets launched raids on what Islamabad described as “militant hideouts” in eastern Afghanistan.
