ADEN, April 28 (YPA) – Local media platforms in southern Yemen reported on Monday that a student was shot and seriously injured by a female classmate at University of Aden.
According to reports circulated by media outlets and local activists, a female student from the Faculty of Science—whose name has not been disclosed— opened fire with a handgun at a fellow student, leaving him critically wounded.
It was reported that the injured student was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while reports remain conflicting as to whether the shooting was in the air, and the female student and her colleague were detained at the ‘People’s Police’ station for questioning.
Preliminary reports indicate the incident, which occurred last weekend, stemmed from an emotionally charged dispute between the two, raising concerns among students and faculty at University of Aden.
Details of the incident remain unclear, and the administration of University of Aden has yet to issue any statement confirming or denying the reports.
