TEHRAN, April 26 (YPA) – Spokesperson for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Ebrahim Rezaei, described on Sunday Pakistan as a friendly neighboring state but argued that it lacks the credibility and qualifications required to serve as a dependable mediator in any negotiation process.
In remarks shared on X, Rezaei stated that Islamabad frequently aligns its positions with U.S. interests and avoids adopting policies that contradict Washington’s direction—an approach he believes undermines its neutrality in mediation efforts.
He added that several key issues are often overlooked, including Washington’s initial approval of Pakistani proposals followed by subsequent withdrawal, as well as a pattern of unfulfilled U.S. commitments, notably in relation to Lebanon and frozen assets.
Rezaei emphasized that an effective mediator must remain fully impartial and avoid favoring any party, stressing that neutrality is a fundamental condition for the success of negotiations.
In a related context, he also referenced a 40-day aggressive campaign launched on February 28 by the United States a the Zionist entity against Iran.
According to his account, the operation resulted in thousands of civilian casualties and targeted civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, mosques, and other essential facilities.
