BEIRUT, April 26 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces escalated their military aggression in Lebanon on Sunday, carrying out a series of airstrikes on southern towns after Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered attacks on Hezbollah targets “with force,” further straining an already fragile ceasefire reportedly announced by US President Donald Trump.
On Saturday, Israeli occupation army issued warnings to residents of several villages and towns in southern Lebanon, calling on them not to move south of the designated village line and its surrounding areas until further notice.
It also reiterated restrictions on approaching the Litani River, Wadi al-Salhani, and Al-Salouqi areas.
Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on Lebanon on the ninth day of a ceasefire agreement, killing six people and injuring 17 others, according to reports.
Hezbollah said it responded with a drone attack on an Israeli armored vehicle in the south.
Earlier in the day, Israeli security sources warned of a possible collapse of understandings with Lebanon, according to Israel’s public broadcaster.
The sources claimed the deal could “unravel without US pressure on Beirut,” adding that Israel is urging Washington to pressure the Lebanese army to act against Hezbollah outside what it describes as a security zone.
They also warned that the complex battlefield situation could lead to further escalation.
