Fuel crisis hits Islah-controlled areas in Taiz

TAIZ, April. 14 (YPA) – A state of near-total paralysis in the transportation and services sectors hit on Tuesday the city of Taiz and the areas under the control of Saudi-backed forces, following the sudden closure of most fuel stations without official explanation.

Local sources said the closure caused long queues of cars and motorcycles in front of the closed stations, while the price of a 20-liter gallon of gasoline rose to 33,000 riyals, in what the sources described as a “silent dose” of fuel price hikes that comes amid a continuous decline in the local currency and living conditions.

The crisis was reflected in the electricity sector, where the tariff per kilowatt at commercial stations rose from 800 riyals to 1,250 riyals, according to local sources, exacerbating the pressures on families in light of the rapidly deteriorating living conditions.
