BEIRUT, April 14 (YPA) –Despite large-scale military reinforcements and the extensive use of firepower, including artillery shelling and airstrikes, the Israeli occupation military has so far failed to establish control over the town of Bint Jbeil, located approximately three kilometers from the border with the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to sources, fierce fighting is ongoing in and around the town, as Israeli forces deploy significant military capabilities, including elite units such as the Givati Brigade, the Commando Brigade, and the Paratroopers Brigade, specialized in urban warfare—in an attempt to seize control of the area.
However, despite the sustained military pressure and heavy fire support, Israeli forces have not been able to secure any positions inside the town’s neighborhoods. Clashes continue in several districts amid repeated attempts to advance, which are being met with resistance from fighters on the ground.
Sources added that the fighting is concentrated mainly on the outskirts of the town, where Israeli forces are attempting to advance and establish positions, but have so far failed to do so.
They added that Israeli occupation forces have also been unable to reach key locations inside Bint Jbeil, despite attempts to encircle it from multiple directions. Meanwhile, attacks on troop concentrations and advance routes reportedly continue through firing rocket and artillery shelling.
Intense Fighting and Casualties
In a sign of the intensity of the clashes, the Israeli military acknowledged that 10 soldiers from the 101st Battalion of the Paratroopers Brigade were wounded in recent hours, some of them seriously, following close-range engagement in the area of Bint Jbeil.
Importance of Bint Jbeil
From the perspective of the resistance, Bint Jbeil is considered one of several Lebanese towns that must be defended against Israeli occupation forces. For Israeli enemy, the town holds strategic value because it sits at an elevation of around 770 meters above sea level, giving it commanding oversight over southern Lebanon and northern areas of the occupied territories.
It also carries symbolic significance in Hezbollah’s narrative, particularly in relation to the legacy of the late Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s 2000 “Spider Web” speech following Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
Available information suggests that establishing control over the town would, in practical terms, amount to dominance over a large part of the central sector, potentially enabling a reshaping of front-line boundaries in accordance with Israel’s strategic outlook for the coming period.
It would also represent a symbolic milestone, as Bint Jbeil has long been regarded as a gateway of resistance and liberation, making any declared control over it a sought-after achievement aimed at offsetting previous setbacks.
