ADEN, April 14 (YPA) – The UAE-backed “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council |(STC) warned that targeting its leadership would have serious consequences, stressing that pressure tactics would not deter it from pursuing its political agenda.
In a statement, the STC described a coercive summons issued by prosecutors in Aden against its acting secretary-general Wadah Al-Halimi as an escalatory move lacking legal basis and part of political targeting.
The statement said the move was linked to internal efforts to reorganize its structures and revive its activities following recent developments, adding that such measures aim to intimidate its leadership.
It also indicated that the step came amid protests in Aden and other southern cities, reiterating that it would continue its course despite mounting pressure, and holding those responsible for the escalation accountable for any consequences.
Notably, the Saudi “Special Committee” representative Falah Al-Shahrani had instructed local authorities in Aden to issue coercive arrest orders against Wadah Al-Halimi, the acting secretary-general of the STC, who is from the Radfan area in Lahj province.
