Military commander killed, 6 injured in ambush on Saudi-backed forces in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, April 14 (YPA) – A platoon commander in the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces was killed and six others were wounded this Tuesday due to an armed ambush by unidentified gunmen in the Al-Abr district of Hadramout Governorate, eastern Yemen.

Local sources reported that the attack targeted a military vehicle heading toward the Al-Wadeea area, resulting in the death of commander Faraj Tarish Al-Subaihi and inflicting various injuries on six other personnel. While the attackers managed to flee the scene, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions in Yemen’s southern and eastern provinces between Saudi-aligned forces and supporters of the “dissolved” UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
