ISLAMABAD, April 14 (YPA) – Attention shifts back to the Pakistani capital as reports suggest a potential second round of direct negotiations between the United States and Iran later this week.
This follows the failure of the first round, which concluded last Sunday without reaching an agreement.
According to Reuters and Axios, communication channels remain open, with some reports indicating “progress” in certain areas despite the initial deadlock.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially offered to host the second round, pending a final date to be set before the current ceasefire expires.
The diplomatic track is unfolding alongside intense military posturing. Reports from The Wall Street Journal indicate that the US has deployed over 15 warships as part of a naval “encirclement” of Iran.
In turn, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to unveil “unprecedented” military capabilities and combat tactics should hostilities resume.
These developments follow the 40-day war that erupted on February 28, 2026. That conflict led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and triggered a severe global energy crisis, placing significant international pressure on both parties to reach a political settlement.
