Defying US blockade: Sanctioned tankers cross Strait of Hormuz amid Iranian threats

SANAA, April 14 (YPA) – Shipping data revealed on Tuesday that the tanker “Rich Starry,” which is subject to US sanctions, crossed the Strait of Hormuz to exit the Gulf.

This represents the first such movement since US President Donald Trump announced a blockade on Iranian ports.

The Chinese-owned “Rich Starry” was carrying approximately 250,000 barrels of methanol. It is the first sanctioned vessel to transit the strait since the restrictions were implemented.

Also the “Morlekishan” vessel under US sanctions entered the strait and is reportedly heading to Iraq to load fuel oil.

These movements occur amid a global divide, as several European nations have shown reluctance to support the US blockade.

In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a stern warning, stating that maritime security in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman “is either for everyone or for no one,” asserting that any threat to Iranian ports would compromise the safety of all ports in the region.
