Armed confrontations erupt at Saudi-led coalition camp in Aden

ADEN, March 11 (YPA) – The armed confrontations were broken out on Tuesday in the city of Aden, south of Yemen, outside the gate of the Saudi-led coalition camp in the Bir Ahmed area, amid tensions surrounding gatherings of dozens of recruits.

Local sources reported that clashes erupted between the camp’s security personnel and a large group of recruits who had traveled long distances to reach the “Footprint” committee.

According to the sources, heavy congestion and crowding at the gate sparked heated verbal exchanges, which quickly escalated into armed confrontations lasting approximately an hour.

The sources added that security personnel took up defensive and offensive positions atop earthen and concrete barriers, issuing direct threats to recruits and warning that anyone attempting to bypass the gate could be targeted.

The situation intensified after security guards fired warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd, triggering further clashes that lasted over an hour. No human or material losses were reported at the time of the report.

Ultimately, hundreds of recruits were forced to leave and return to their regions without meeting the Footprint Committee.

Many criticized the apparent lack of organization and coordination, as well as the failure to account for humanitarian considerations, particularly for the wounded, elderly, and chronically ill.
