Delayed salaries spark protests among wounded Saudi-backed fighters in Taiz

TAIZ, March 05 (YPA) – Many wounded fighters affiliated with Saudi-backed forces in Taiz province have demanded the settlement of their salaries, calling for equal treatment with members of other armed formations and factions based in Aden and the southern provinces.

In a statement, the Association of the Wounded of Taiz said it was closely monitoring the continued delay in the payment of financial entitlements to wounded fighters, as well as the failure to regularize their salaries in comparison with members of other factions.

The statement said this situation has worsened their humanitarian and economic conditions and increased the living pressures faced by them and their families under the current circumstances.

It stressed that the wounded fighters, who made significant sacrifices while fighting within the ranks of the Saudi-led coalition, are not seeking special privileges but rather their legitimate legal rights. Chief among these demands, the statement said, is the immediate payment of overdue salaries without partial disbursement and equal treatment with members of the Saudi-funded Dera al-Watan and Al-Amaliqa brigades’ factions without discrimination.

It also announced the launch of a media campaign to demand these rights, saying the step comes as part of its moral responsibility toward the wounded and to ensure their voices reach the relevant authorities aligned with Saudi Arabia.

The group further held the Presidential Leadership Council and the government fully responsible for the delays, calling for urgent decisions to end the suffering of the wounded.
