OCCUPIED QUDS, Feb. 27 (YPA) – Approximately 35,000 worshipers performed the Isha and Tarawih prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque this Thursday evening.
The massive turnout created a profound spiritual atmosphere, standing as a testament to Palestinian resilience in the face of ongoing restrictive measures imposed by Israeli occupation authorities.
Tens of thousands flocked to the mosque’s courtyards despite tightened security around the Old City, asserting their right to worship.
In response to the influx, Israeli occupation forces were heavily deployed, erecting checkpoints and intensifying ID inspections. These measures specifically targeted young men, many of whom were denied entry.
This escalation is part of a broader strategy to limit the number of attendees during Ramadan, complemented by a recent surge in mass deportations and arrests across Jerusalem.
Despite these hurdles—including age-based restrictions and travel bans on residents of the West Bank—Al-Aqsa Mosque remains the central spiritual hub for Palestinians throughout the holy month, consistently drawing thousands who continue to challenge the systematic policies aimed at reducing their presence in the Holy City.
