Steadfastness Flotilla prepares for new voyage to Gaza

ISTANBUL, Feb. 27 (YPA) – The Global Resilience Flotilla Coalition announced its readiness to launch a massive international maritime campaign aimed at breaking the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, and the coalition set April 12th as the date for the ships to set sail.

This step comes with broad participation including activists from about 150 countries, as the flotilla is scheduled to include more than 100 ships and boats departing from different destinations.

During a press conference held in the Fatih district of Istanbul, Turkey, the flotilla’s management confirmed that the situation in the Gaza Strip has gone beyond the limits of a humanitarian crisis to become a systematic genocide targeting the Palestinian existence.

In addition, the activist Dilek Tekocak explained in the press statement that closing the borders and preventing the entry of basic aid represents a flagrant violation of all international laws and humanitarian norms.

The flotilla administration stressed that targeting health and civilian infrastructure in Gaza is directly aimed at eliminating the Palestinian people’s right to a dignified life.

Sources indicated that what is being promoted as a state of calm after months of ceasefire declarations is nothing but a slow-motion strangulation system practiced against civilians through the continuation of the suffocating siege.
