Military mutiny, mass defections hit pro-Saudi camps in Najran

NAJRAN, Feb. 16 (YPA) – The Najran border front has witnessed a wave of military mutiny and unprecedented mass defections within the ranks of the “Second Brigade” at the Alab axis.

The unrest followed revelations of systematic looting of financial entitlements belonging to recruits loyal to Riyadh.

Media sources confirmed that dozens of recruits from the camp—commanded by Yasser Mujalli—announced a collective defection after discovering that their salaries and allowances for an entire year had been embezzled.

Circulating video footage showed long lines of soldiers chanting slogans accusing military leaders of corruption and theft, amid a state of high tension within the camp.

Protesters leveled direct accusations against Commander Yasser Mujalli (brother of Presidential Leadership Council member Othman Mujalli) and his deputies for the theft of their rights. Recruits expressed total disillusionment with what they described as “false Saudi promises” received over the past several years.

These defections come amidst reports of a crackdown involving the arrest of dozens of recruits from Abyan and Taiz governorates. They are reportedly being held in secret “Military Police” prisons in the Alab desert, with their fates currently unknown.

This mutiny reflects the deepening internal fractures among forces loyal to the Saudi-led coalition on the border and the escalating resentment against the Riyadh-linked leadership figures.
