Cold conditions, high waves expected across parts of Yemen

SANAA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – The National Meteorological Center on Friday renewed its warnings to citizens in the mountainous highlands and inland plateaus of cold to relatively cold conditions.

In a weather forecast, the center urged residents, particularly in mountainous governorates, to take necessary precautions amid a continued and noticeable drop in temperatures.

It also warned fishermen, beachgoers, and ship captains operating in the southern Red Sea coast and at the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab of rough sea conditions and high waves driven by active winds that may reach speeds of up to 25 knots.

Mountainous Highlands:

Cold conditions are expected overnight and in the early morning across the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, northern Ibb, and the highlands of Lahj and Abyan.

Relatively cold weather is forecast in parts of Hajjah, Mahweet, Rayma, Dhalea, and northern Taiz.

Scattered cumulus clouds may form over parts of the western highlands during the afternoon and evening hours.

Coastal Areas:

Partly cloudy skies are expected, with a chance of scattered light rainfall along the southern and eastern coasts and adjacent inland areas.

Winds will be moderate to strong over the southern Red Sea coast and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Desert Areas:

Relatively cool conditions are anticipated at night and early morning, with light to moderate winds that may occasionally stir up dust and sand.

The center emphasized the importance of following official weather updates and taking appropriate preventive measures, particularly for vulnerable groups.
