70,000 Palestinian worshippers perform Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Jan. 30 (YPA) – Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed, on Friday, Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and its courtyards, despite the restrictions and tightening measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on those entering the Old City.

Sources in Jerusalem reported that 70,000 worshippers performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, after arriving from various areas within the occupied territories and the city of Jerusalem.

In the morning, the occupation forces imposed strict restrictions on the access of worshippers to Al-Aqsa Mosque through the military checkpoints surrounding Jerusalem, and also erected iron barriers around the Old City and the mosque gates.

Meanwhile, an armed settler was seen walking among the worshippers as they entered the mosque courtyards, in a clear provocation, whereas the occupation deliberately opens Al-Aqsa Mosque to settlers while restricting the entry of Palestinian worshippers in a blatant policy of religious discrimination.

It should be noted that calls continue in Jerusalem for urgent action to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic holy sites and to stop the daily attacks aimed at erasing the Arab and Islamic identity of the city.
