Sudan files formal complaint against Ethiopia to African Union Peace, Security Council

KHARTOUM, Nov. 02 (YPA) – The Government of Sudan has lodged a formal complaint against the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia with both the United Nations Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council, following attacks launched from within Ethiopian territory targeting civilian sites, objects, and power stations across several Sudanese states.

In a statement, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the complaint was accompanied by documentation and evidence confirming that the “rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia” utilized Ethiopian territory to launch kamikaze and missile-equipped drones. The Ministry noted that the attacks resulted in civilian casualties and the disruption of essential services, following a series of strikes targeting 13 power stations in the states of Khartoum, Al-Jazirah, Sennar, and Gedaref, causing widespread infrastructure damage.

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the use of Ethiopian territory to target Sudan constitutes a “hostile act” that holds Ethiopia accountable under international law and Article 4(2) of the United Nations Charter. Khartoum demanded that Ethiopian authorities cease these actions immediately, calling on the international community to hold the “terrorist militia” accountable and to enforce international law regarding the Ethiopian government.
