140 anti-vehicle mines of coalition’s remnants destroyed in Hodeida

HODEIDA, Jan. 18 (YPA) – The Hodeida branch of the Executive Mine Action Center destroyed, on Sunday, 140 anti-vehicle mines, which are remnants of the Saudi-American coalition, were discovered in Field No. (3) in Al-Ahwadh area of Al-Hali district, as part of ongoing clearance operations to secure residential areas and roads.

Colonel Yahya Sabr, the branch director, explained that the destruction operation was carried out by the second platoon after the emergency and demolition teams prepared the mines for disposal. The area is populated and contains multiple roads leading to large villages, posing a danger to civilians and their property.

He noted that the operation is part of a campaign to facilitate the return of civilians to areas cleared of mines and remnants of war, emphasizing that the center continues its field operations despite the obstacles and difficulties encountered in carrying out work in the field.

Sabr stressed that these humanitarian efforts are being carried out under significant challenges, primarily the scarcity of financial support and logistical challenges, especially given the widening scope of mine contamination and the remnants of aggression, noting that work is continuing according to available resources to save lives, reduce the number of victims, and mitigate the effects of pollution on affected communities.

He explained that sustaining and expanding these efforts require strengthening humanitarian partnerships and increasing financial and logistical support to match the scale of the existing pollution, and contribute to accelerating the liberation of lands and building a safer future for communities affected by mines and coalition remnants.
