Coalition violates truce by air bombing on Hodeidah

HODEIDAH, Aug. 2 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition on Thursday waged violent air and sea bombing on the city of Hodeidah, after the unilaterally-declared truce in the initiative of Chief of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee Mohammed al-Houthi, entered into force.

The move came after the armed confrontations in the western coast front remained almost intermittent on Wednesday.

According to field sources, the coalition aircrafts launched a series of violent raids on several areas inside the city, causing severe damage to citizens’ homes and property in Kilo-16 area and near the historic fortress of Hodeidah, while the battleships bombed the city outskirts with Cruise missiles, field sources reported.

Earlier the day, the coalition warplanes bombed and destroyed the telecommunication station building in al-Durihemi district, which led to the interruption of the telecommunication and internet service in the district.

This air and sea military escalation coincided with the call of the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, for a ceasefire and determining a date for return to the negotiating table.

On Tuesday, al-Houthi announced an initiative to stop the sea military operations in all fronts if this step was met with a similar action by Saudi-led coalition.
