Gunmen cut off bridge line in Aden for third day in row

ADEN, Aug. 2 (YPA) – Gunmen dressed in military and civilian uniforms continued on Thursday to cut off the public bridge road and Caltex round in Mansoura district in the southern port city of Aden for the third day in row, an official told Yemen Press Agency.

The armed groups are trying to pressure the security authorities to arrest Ayoub al-Aqrabi, accused of killing the businessman Ali Awad Abdulhaleb, after the defendant was released from prison by a court order, according to the official.

The move led to a traffic jam in the district streets, amid a complete absence of the security services controlling the city, the official added.

Buriqa Court of First Instance in the city acquitted al- Aqrabi before more than two months , when he was on trial on charges of masterminding the assassination incident.

The bridge line was established in the fifties of the last century for the passage of convoys or salt ferries for export to the port of Aden, and is currently linking between the districts of Mansoura and Khormaksar.
