OCCUPIED QUDS, Dec. 18 (YPA) – Ten Israeli occupation police officers were injured on Thursday during violent confrontations with hundreds of ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jews in West Quds (Jerusalem).
The unrest broke out in Hanna Street after police issued a municipal citation, leading protesters to attack officers with stones and various objects.
According to police statements, four suspects were arrested, and several injured officers required evacuation for medical treatment. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the riots intensified because protesters mistakenly believed the police were there to arrest a military draft evader.
These clashes are part of a series of ongoing protests by the Haredi community against the 2024 Supreme Court ruling that mandates their enlistment in the military and cuts financial aid to religious institutions whose students refuse to serve.
