Specialized Criminal Court in Sanaa reviews evidence against “British espionage cell”

SANAA, Dec. 17 (YPA) – The Specialized Criminal Court in the capital, Sanaa, held two separate sessions on Wednesday to review incriminating evidence against several individuals accused of collaborating with foreign intelligence services (the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia).

The court confronted the defendants with seized materials, including covert surveillance and filming devices, GPS tracking software, and encrypted communication tools provided by foreign intelligence officers.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendants with committing acts of espionage between 2021 and 2025. They are accused of gathering intelligence and monitoring the movements of high-ranking officials as well as military and civilian sites in Sanaa.

The tasks assigned to the defendants included planting tracking devices and hacking networks in exchange for financial payments and gold bars. These activities aimed to undermine the military, political, and economic standing of the Republic of Yemen.

Defendants Named:

First Group: Ali Al-Amari, Ahmed Al-Zarari, Aref Al-Qadsi, Himyar Al-Sayyani, Suleiman Mughalles, and Saddam Al-Sayadi.

Second Group: Mohammed Al-Ba’lool, Mohsen Al-Maqtari, and Abdulrahman Shaker.

At the conclusion of the sessions, the court listened to the initial responses from the defendants and their legal counsel. The court granted them further opportunity to present their formal legal defenses in the upcoming session.
