GAZA, Dec. 17 (YPA) – Strategic military expert Nidal Abu Zaid, stated that recent Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip, particularly following the ceasefire, are classified as “selective operations” driven by precise intelligence.
In a statement to Quds Press on Tuesday, Abu Zaid noted that this shift results from the exorbitant costs of traditional ground warfare, especially as reserve forces have been reduced from 60,000 to 40,000 soldiers.
He added that the “enemy” is moving toward a new model of proxy warfare, utilizing trained and logistically equipped armed militias supported by Israeli air forces to facilitate ground operations.
This shift comes in response to US recommendations issued following visits to Tel Aviv by Admiral Brad Cooper and the US Director of National Intelligence. These recommendations were aimed at reducing the Israeli army’s involvement in costly land maneuvers
Abu Zaid emphasized that the latest operations, such as the one targeting commander Raed Saad, carry political timing linked to Netanyahu’s meeting with Trump on the 30th of this month.
This is seen as an attempt to project strength to the US administration while maintaining pressure on the resistance in Gaza.
Furthermore, Abu Zaid warned that despite the apparent strength of the Trump-Netanyahu relationship, it faces major challenges.
He suggested that Trump’s focus on global hegemony might lead him to eventually sacrifice Netanyahu by pushing for early elections before June 2026.
This occurs amidst escalating internal Israeli crises, including budget deficits, manpower shortages, judicial and political turmoil, and intensifying friction with the Haredi community.
He concluded by noting that the “entity” is losing its internal equilibrium, which may severely impact its future capacity to manage the conflict.
