SANAA, Dec. 12 (YPA) – The General Organization of Antiquities and Museums (GOAM) in Sanaa revealed on Friday List No. 30 of looted Yemeni antiquities, which includes 26 archaeological pieces currently being circulated in international auctions, museums, and private collections.
A statement by the GOAM clarified that seven of these pieces were offered for sale during the current month of December. Most significantly, the list included an artifact that was part of the possessions of a former French diplomat and minister, hinting at the involvement of foreign officials in the looting operations.
The GOAM demanded that relevant international bodies immediately halt the auctions for violating international laws and ensure the return of these artifacts to Yemen.
It urged anyone with information about the looted artifacts or sites to contact it via its website (https://goam.gov.ye/Communic) or its official social media pages to assist in the tracking and monitoring process.
