STC seizes Abyan, capturing last strongholds of so-called “legitimacy”

ABYAN, Dec. 10 (YPA) – The Southern Transitional Council (STC), backed by the UAE and advocating for the secession of the South, announced its full control over Abyan governorate on Wednesday.

Abyan is the birthplace of former President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, making the capture a significant symbolic and strategic victory.

This major shift comes as media outlets reported that Abu Bakr Hussein, the governor of Abyan appointed by Hadi, has officially joined the ranks of the STC.

Furthermore, STC activists circulated a document allegedly showing Hussein directing the raising of secessionist flags over all government institutions within the governorate.

This move by Hussein, if the document is accurate, reflects the dire position of the Hadi faction, especially following the recent collapse of its last remaining strongholds in the oil-rich plateau of Hadramout.
