Money changers in Marib stage partial strike to protest security corruption

MARIB, Dec. 01 (YPA) – The coalition-held city of Marib, in northeastern Yemen, is witnessed an escalation in its security and economic crisis as the Money Changers Association announced a partial strike protesting the security authorities’ inaction in a major robbery case.

The strike came in response to a robbery that targeted the “Saddam Express” exchange company a month ago, carried out by a gang dressed in military uniforms who stole millions of Saudi riyals.

In a statement, the Money Changers Association revealed on Monday, a security scandal, confirming that the security services in the Islah Party-run province have known the names and locations of the perpetrators since late October 2025, but have refrained from arresting them or recovering the stolen funds, citing “difficulty in reaching them”.

The Association warned of “more severe measures” if the coalition authorities would continue to fail to protect the financial sector, indicating that the manipulation of the case threatens to erode trust and exacerbate the security chaos.
