SANAA, Dec. 01 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Monday that NATO’s talk of a possible “preemptive strike” against Russia was a deliberate attempt to undermine efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
In a statement, Zakharova asserted that these remarks, made by Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, refuted the myth of the alliance’s purely “defensive” nature and expose the falsehood of Brussels’ repeated claims on this matter.
Moscow also described Dragone’s statement as “a completely irresponsible step” indicating NATO’s readiness for further escalation, urging an understanding of the risks and potential consequences of such statements.
Previously, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone had stated that a preemptive strike was a possibility in light of Russia’s alleged actions against the alliance.
