Young man killed by gunfire from UAE-backed factions in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Nov. 20 (YPA) – A young man from the Al-Humum tribes was killed today, Thursday, by gunfire from fighters belonging to the “Security Support” factions funded by the UAE, in the city of Al-Shihr in Hadramout Governorate, eastern Yemen.

A well-informed local source said that the young man, identified as Amro bin Ajlan Alaliyyi Al-Humumi, was killed by gunfire from Security Support personnel after his car was chased by one of the factions’ patrols.”

The source added that Al-Humumi was driving his vehicle when the patrol began pursuing him, and the personnel opened fire directly at him, killing him instantly inside his car. No official details have been released to clarify the circumstances of the horrifying incident.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, while accusations have been leveled against members of the “Security Support” and the “Hadhrami Elite,” in a sign of growing lawlessness and disorder.

The local authorities affiliated with Saudi-led coalition have not issued any statement regarding the crime, which has sparked widespread anger among citizens.

The “Security Support” factions had imposed armed control over the coastal district of Al-Shihr last October, after being deployed by the UAE in June from the Jabal Hadid camp and spreading into the Brom Mayfa district west of Mukalla.

The incident comes amid unprecedented security chaos in the coastal and valley districts of Hadhramaut, which are controlled factions aligned with the UAE and Saudi Arabia, alongside a widespread presence of armed groups that pose a direct threat to residents’ safety and stability.
