DAMASCUS, Nov. 16 (YPA) – Two children sustained on Sunday minor injuries in the city of Latamneh in northern Hama countryside of Syria after a cluster bomb, a remnant of war, exploded.
This incident comes as Syrians continue to pay the price for the remnants of the conflict.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented 757 civilians have been injured by remnants of war, including 331 children and 22 women, since the fall of the regime on December 8, 2014, due to the explosion of landmines, cluster bombs, and other explosive remnants of war.
These figures highlighted a fragile security situation that threatens the lives of civilians, especially children, in the absence of comprehensive national programs to remove mines and secure contaminated areas, making every rusty metal object or abandoned toy a new potential for another tragedy.
