Naim Qassem: Resistance thwarts Israeli plot to invade Lebanon

BEIRUT, Nov. 11 (YPA) – Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, affirmed the Hezbollah’s fighters could thwart the objectives of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and preventing its invasion.

His remarks came during the central commemoration of “Martyr’s Day, which took place in 11 different locations on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Naim Qassem pointed out that the steadfastness of the fighters prevented the advance of approximately 75,000 Israeli soldiers, who were only able to penetrate a few hundred meters into Lebanese territory.

He highlighted the martyr Ahmad Qasir, who carried out a suicide operation in Sidon in 1982, which resulted in the death of 76 Israeli soldiers and the wounding of 118 others, considering the operation a turning point that shocked “Israel” and paved the way for its subsequent withdrawal from Lebanon.

In a related context, Qassem emphasized that liberation from the Israeli occupation in 2000 was achieved thanks to armed resistance, not negotiations.

He addressed the ceasefire agreement signed on November 27, 2014, which stipulated the withdrawal of Israeli forces from south of the Litani River and the deployment of the Lebanese army, describing the agreement as an “acceptable price”.

Qassem criticized Israeli failure to abide by the agreement, noting that UNIFIL forces had recorded more than 7,000 Israeli violations in the south, while Hezbollah had not recorded any.

In closing, Secretary-General of Hezbollah warned against American and Israeli pressure on Lebanon to end the resistance and weaken its defense capabilities, which aims at political and economic domination and turning the country into an arena subservient to the “Greater Israel” project.
