STC leaders seize ice factory’s equipment in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 28 (YPA) – Activists in the coalition-controlled city of Aden accused leaders of the UAE-backed UAE Southern Transitional Council (STC) of selling equipment from an ice factory in the Buraiqa area.

In social media posts, they confirmed that influential STC leaders sold the equipment from the ice factory in the Faqam area of the Salah al-Din neighborhood and transported it on trucks to an unknown location, without knowing the details of the secret deal.

They explained that a security checkpoint near the Faqam area detained a tanker carrying the factory’s equipment Monday, adding it had been sold to a local merchant, after residents had preserved the factory’s property for more than 40 years.

Activists in Aden considered the disposal of the factory and the sale of its equipment for scrap a blatant violation and inexcusable corruption.

They called for an urgent investigation to uncover the details of the unknown deal, which was not subject to any tender or the knowledge of the residents.
