SOCOTRA, Oct. 28 (YPA) – An informed source has confirmed the expanded scope of the foreign military presence on the islands of Samha and Abd al Kuri within Yemen’s Socotra Archipelago, east of the Gulf of Aden.
The source clarified that the military bases on the two islands are no longer limited to the previously known “Israeli” presence, but now include military experts from multiple nationalities, including American, Israeli, British, French, and Indian.
According to the source, this presence comes in the context of the ongoing UAE role that brought the Zionist entity to the archipelago years ago, due to the increasing strategic importance of Socotra’s location.
The source pointed out that this development is accompanied by “a controversial silence” from the so-called “Presidential Leadership Council” and the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition regarding the foreign military presence on several Yemeni islands.
It is worth noting that previous reports, such as the 2023 report by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), confirmed that Socotra has become a joint Emirati-Israeli intelligence base since 2020.
