Prominent local official kidnapped in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 26 (YPA) – A prominent local official was kidnapped on Sunday while performing his duties in the city of Aden, which is under the control of coalition forces, in southern Yemen.

Informed local sources confirmed that armed elements affiliated with the Transitional Council (STC) factions affiliated with the UAE-backed factions kidnapped the director of water in Sheikh Othman district, Engineer Sameh Saif, and took him directly to one of their detention centers without revealing their identity or the reasons for the arrest.

The sources indicated that the kidnapping took place during official working hours, as the armed group stormed Saif’s office in the institution’s building, causing a state of panic among the employees.

The sources did not reveal any additional details about the background of the incident or the charges against the kidnapped director.

This incident comes in the context of increasing security violations in Aden, which is witnessing the deployment and multiplication of armed factions, reflecting the state of security chaos since the beginning of 2016.
