GAZA, Oct. 24 (YPA) – The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip confirmed on Friday that the humanitarian situation on the ground has not fundamentally changed, despite two weeks having passed since the ceasefire was declared.
In its statement, the Civil Defense indicated that the limited amounts of aid that have entered the Strip “merely meet” the needs of the population.
The statement noted that the destruction is extensive, with homes still destroyed, bodies lying under the rubble, and roads blocked by debris, while its crews are working with “minimal resources.”
It stressed the need for the international community and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to begin reconstruction efforts and bring in heavy engineering equipment to clear roads, remove rubble, and recover bodies.
The statement warned that the continued denial of the entry of equipment necessary for rescue operations and removing rubble exacerbates the humanitarian crisis and hinders the efforts of crews.
It called for the facilitation of the entry of this equipment without restrictions and the provision of safe humanitarian corridors for rescue teams.
