Pro-Islah Party elements targets STC military vehicle with IED in Abyan

ABYAN, Oct. 23 (YPA) – Armed elements, calling themselves “Siham Al-Haq” (Arrows of Truth) and accused of loyalty to the Islah Party or Al-Qaeda organization, destroyed a military vehicle belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions in Abyan governorate, southern Yemen, early Thursday.

Informed sources stated that the elements detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a “Nissan Hilux” type military vehicle in an ambush in Modiyah district, without reporting any human casualties.

This ambush comes two days after a major attack launched by the group on a headquarters for the STC factions in Al-Mahfad district, which resulted in the killing and injuring of several members.

Attacks against the STC factions have been escalating since they launched the “Siham Al-Sharg” (Arrows of the East) operation in mid-August 2022 to take control of Islah Party camps in Abyan and Shabwa governorates.
