Israeli occupation army bombards villages of Daraa countryside in Syria

DAMASCUS, Oct. 23 (YPA) – In a new escalation of Israeli military attacks on Syrian territory, Syrian media reported that the Israeli occupation army launched shelling on the outskirts of the village of Koya in the countryside of Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.

This is a recurring activity that has been occurring for years and has witnessed a noticeable increase after the fall of the former Syrian regime.

The official Syrian Al-Ekhbariya channel said that the shelling targeted the village with three different shells, noting that it coincided with bursts of gunfire in the area. No casualties or material damage have been reported so far.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the attack, explaining that the shells fell on the outskirts of the town of Koya and were launched from the Al-Jazeera barracks in Quneitra Governorate, where Israeli occupation forces are stationed. The Observatory considered this shelling to be part of the “repeated” Israeli movements in the border area.

The village of Koya and the western countryside of Daraa Governorate are witnessing repeated incidents related to Israeli incursions. Similar attacks have previously resulted in seven deaths and others being injured following clashes between local youths and an Israeli military force that attempted to penetrate the village.

These incidents come within the framework of the increasing frequency of “Israeli” attacks on southern Syria, since the departure of the Assad regime on December 8, 2024.
