TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (YPA) – Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have agreed to continue talks to strengthen cooperation on regional peace and security, according to a joint statement issued after a four-way meeting in Tehran on Monday.
According to a joint statement issued after the meeting, the four countries reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining dialogue and expanding cooperation on regional issues.
The meeting, bringing together members of the Mecca Defense Alliance, was hosted by Mohsen Rezaei, secretary-general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
Participants included Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and Ibrahim Kalin, head of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization.
Iranian state television reported earlier on Monday that the meeting had begun, with regional security and stability on the agenda.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry also said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi attended a meeting between President Masoud Pezeshkian and defense and security officials from Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Reuters quoted a senior Iranian official as saying that talks between Tehran and members of the “Mecca Defense Alliance” did not cover Iran’s nuclear program. The official added that Iran would not discuss its nuclear program until the United States met its demands.
