GAZA, Oct. 23 (YPA) – Hamas movement accused on Thursday the Israeli occupation authorities of pursuing a deliberate media blackout policy to conceal “genocide crimes” in the Gaza Strip.
This followed a decision by the Israeli Supreme Court to grant the government an additional 30 days to respond to a petition to allow entry for foreign journalists.
The movement stated in a news statement that this decision reflected the Zionist entity’s insistence on obscuring the traces of the horrific crimes being committed by its army in the Gaza Strip over the past two years, confirming the occupation’s intention to conceal the widespread destruction and systematic violations.
The statement considered the imposed restrictions a flagrant violation of media freedom, noting that the occupation fears the free camera documenting the “horrors of bombing, siege, and starvation”.
It called on international media and human rights organizations to immediately pressure the opening of the crossings to foreign journalists to enable them to work independently, instead of the limited coverage that takes place under Israeli military supervision.
The movement’s statement noted that more than 130 media outlets and international organizations had repeatedly called on Israel to allow foreign correspondents unrestricted entry.
