Two Saudi soldiers killed in Sharurah Camp, Najran, in attack by ‘extremist Salafi elements’

NAJRAN, Oct. 22 (YPA) – Two Saudi soldiers were killed following an armed ambush carried out by “extremist Salafi elements” inside a Saudi military camp in the Sharurah area of Najran, which is close to Saudi-led coalition-controlled areas in Hadramout and Jawf provinces, informed sources reported on Wednesday.

The sources clarified that the two soldiers died yesterday, Tuesday, in the incident, the full details of which remain obscure and are under investigation. They reported that among the victims were soldier “Ayed Ali Al-Monabi Al-Shahrani” and another soldier whose name has not yet been disclosed.

The sources suggested that the incident may stem from the “growing discontent” among Salafi recruits of the “Dera Al-Watan” formation, who are undergoing training at the Saudi Sharurah camp.
