Top commander injured in Taiz violent explosion

TAIZ, oct. 22 (YPA) – A violent explosion rocked on Wednesday the city of Taiz, targeting a military vehicle of the coalition-backed armed factions.

Local sources said that the explosion led to injuring Adnan Raziq, the commander of the coalition’s Fifth Brigade, and killing two of his companions.

The sources reported that unidentified gunmen, believed to belong to other coalition-affiliated factions, detonated an explosive device targeting Raziq’s vehicle that was passing near the central prison.

The sources confirmed that Raziq sustained minor injuries, while others also were injured.

They indicated that armed clashes erupted after Raziq’s vehicle was targeted. The gunmen managed to flee to an unknown location, while the commander was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

The operation came amid escalating conflict and armed rivalry between the leaders of the various coalition-affiliated factions in the city, raising fears of a deteriorating security situation.
