Woman killed, gunmen injured in Abyan armed clashes

ABYAN, Oct. 22 (YPA) – Three citizens were injured on Wednesday in armed clashes in the Jaar popular market in Abyan province, which is under the control of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions.

Local sources affirmed that the clashes, which erupted suddenly between armed elements belonging to the Al-Maraqisha tribe from Abyan and the Al-Sabiha tribe from Lahj, led also to killing a Somali woman who was present in the vicinity of the market. The heavy exchange of gunfire and the use of hand grenades were used in the attack.

The source indicated that several vendors and shoppers, who were immediately transported to hospitals for treatment, were also injured.

Terror spread among civilians who fled the market during the clashes, and the final toll of damage and losses has yet to be determined.
