Palestine’s prisoners in Negev face catastrophic conditions, deliberate neglect

GAZA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The Palestinian Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs revealed on Wednesday the “catastrophic” humanitarian and health conditions facing prisoners in the Negev desert prison, following a visit from its lawyers.

The Commission said in a statement a widespread outbreak of skin diseases among the prisoners due to the lack of hygiene and the poor and insufficient meals provided. The prisoners also suffer from the bitter cold, lacking winter clothing and blankets.

The statement also noted continued raids by repression units on prisoners’ rooms, assaulting them, stealing their belongings, and denying them access to necessary medical treatment.

It warned of the dangerous conditions and called on international institutions to urgently intervene to stop the violations, holding the occupation authorities fully responsible for their lives.
