Fierce clashes rock Al-Wade’a in Abyan between “Security Belt”, armed elements

ABYAN, Oct. 19 (YPA) – Violent explosions and clashes involving light and medium weapons shook the Al-Wade’a district in Abyan province on Sunday between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s (STC) “Security Belt” forces and armed elements believed to belong to the “Al-Qaeda terrorist organization.”

Local sources reported that the clashes erupted after unknown assailants targeted a military checkpoint belonging to the “Security Belt,” leading to intense exchange of fire and widespread panic among residents.

The attack resulted in minor injuries to one of the “Security Belt” personnel.

Conversely, activists accused a leader within the “Security Belt” of instigating the confrontations to mislead citizens into believing a terrorist attack was being repelled, describing the events as systematic security chaos spearheaded by STC factions.
